Everyone starts at 1000 Elo. Your placement earns a fixed number of points, and the strength of your opponents adjusts it a little. The top half of a lobby always gains, while protection can reduce the cost of a poor finish.
In a full lobby of 8: 1. +25 2. +18 3. +12 4. +6 5. -4 6. -8 7. -12 8. -16. These are base points before protection. Lobbies with fewer teams spread the same table over their places.
Stronger opponents than you: gains up to 30% bigger and losses up to 30% smaller. Weaker opponents: the other way round.
Changes are scaled by players in the match divided by 8: four players move ratings half as much as eight.
Every King you take is worth 2 Elo on top of your placement. It is yours alone, not your team's, so hunting pays even when the match ends badly.
New and lower-ranked players are protected: in the lower leagues a bad match costs little or nothing. The higher you climb, the more is at stake. Nobody can drop below the starting rating.
